The processes in the intermediate space for finding a candidate for the presidential elections are moving in two parallel paths. The president of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, tomorrow inaugurates his own course of contacts starting from EDEK. George Lillikas with the decision of the Supreme Senate will soon determine his own moves, which are expected to be beyond the intermediate space.

The president of DIKO, accompanied by members of the Executive Office of his party and implementing last week's decision, begins the cycle of contacts with the first on the list the president of EDEK, Marino Sizopoulos. The meeting of the two parties is scheduled for tomorrow.

The fact that EDEK is the first in the list of contacts is not considered accidental, as the intention of both parties is to give the message of the coexistence of the two "most historic forces of the center", as executives from both sides typically state.

Of course, no substantive announcements are expected at this stage.

On the one hand, because from DIKO's point of view, they want to complete the contacts with all the parties of the intermediary and any announcement to come out as a joint decision of all.

On the other hand, in EDEK the intra-party processes are in progress and before the party congress there will be no announcement.

What is considered certain, however, is the re-formulation by both parties of the need for cooperation for change by the Anastasiadis government, as well as the convergence of views of both on the Cyprus issue and on issues of internal governance.

In the coming days, a meeting is expected with both Solidarity and the Ecologists' Movement.

But there is a question mark about what will happen to the Citizens' Alliance. Nikolas Papadopoulos keeps his tone low, wanting to send the message that he keeps the bridges of communication open for the unification of all five parties in the middle. He states this at every opportunity and refuses to enter the process to comment on the decision of the Supreme Senate of the Citizens' Alliance.

However, it is obvious that the decision of the Citizens' Alliance the day before yesterday creates a given in any meeting between the two and this cannot be ignored. Nevertheless, there is an opinion within DIKO that the Citizens' Alliance should join this circle of contacts, so that at the end of the day, if there is no positive result, the message is sent that the failure for a common candidate of the intermediary , weighs on George Lillikas.

What is also clearly stated by DIKO executives, is that the primary goal was and remains the convergence of the parties of the intermediary, excluding at the same time any cooperation with parties other than the intermediary.

It is, however, obvious that Nikolas Papadopoulos is warming up for candidacy, just as it is obvious that there is, at least with some of the parties in the middle, a fundamentally positive view of his intentions. But something that is not going to be formalized immediately, but on the other hand is not going to happen in the long run. Most likely, after Easter the landscape will have finally cleared up.

On the other hand, the president of the Citizens' Alliance, George Lillilas, supported by the majority decision of the Supreme Senate, determines his next moves. The decision of the party is to continue the contacts, which are primarily emphasized will be with the parties of the intermediary. The reality, however, is that George Lillikas knows very well how very difficult it will be to overturn the data as they have begun to be specified.

Therefore, for this reason, it will not be limited only to the parties in the middle, but it is obvious that it will also make openings to AKEL. That is why, in his public statements, he is very careful in relation to AKEL.

It was also avoided to include in the text of the day before yesterday's decision the demand of the dissidents within the party for an explicit reference to the founding act of the Alliance in which there is a clear shaking of the ICC.

Giorgos Lillilas knows, of course, that the facts about him within AKEL are not easy at all, but since in Hezekiah Papaioannou they have not made any decision, nor do they rule out the possibility of discussing cooperation, it is obvious that he will make efforts for to Build Communication Bridges |

Nikolas: Names will definitely be discussed

The president of DIKO, Nikolas Papadopoulos, sent a very clear message once again yesterday, about the leading role of his party in the intermediary processes. Nikolas Papadopoulos stated that names will be discussed in the meetings he will have with the parties in the interim, starting tomorrow with EDEK.

"DIKO has the right, like all other parties in the intermediate space, to have an opinion, especially because we are the largest party in the center, and we have an opinion," said the president of DIKO. Noting that the criterion for selecting a candidate should be, among other things, eligibility. He also reiterated that the aim is to get rid of the current government and to bring the parties in the middle with a candidate. He also stated that a meeting with the Citizens' Alliance will be sought.
