According to a family member, both the services of the Municipality of Paralimni and the health services have been informed many times about the appearance of these tarantulas - which are worth noting that they are not endemic to Cyprus - but there has been no response. In fact, according to what the family members complain, an official of the Municipality told them that the problem does not belong to the Municipality but to the family, which had to spray the area to fight the spiders.

The complainants believe that the appearance of this rare species of spider in the area is not unrelated to the operation of a pet shop nearby which seems to have sold spiders and other reptiles. According to information, the appearance of spiders has been discussed in the area with the residents expressing their intense concern.

According to the head of the Forest Department, Haris Nikolaou, this tarantula belongs to the species Chaetopelma olivaceum. In Cyprus you can find two species of tarantulas that belong to this species. It is noted that both species are poisonous but their venom is not dangerous to humans. Their sting is similar to a wasp sting while it is recommended to administer a special medicine to treat the sting.
