A study on the operating costs of RIK and the three largest private stations in Cyprus for 2010, which are not named, was conducted by the vice president of DISY Averof Neophytou, justifying the reasons why he voted against the budget of RIK…

The most important element that emerges from the study, which was published today, is that the total operating cost of RIK amounts to 52,2 million euros, exceeding by almost 19 million euros, the total cost of the three private stations together.

According to the study, RIK employs 569 people, 135 permanent employees, 397 associates and 37 hourly employees.
€ 30,1 million was spent on salaries, pension contributions, allowances and overtime and € 22 million on programs, management expenses and other expenses.

The study also presents the viewing figures of private stations and RIK, based on which in October 2010, the three private stations had a share of 59.6%, RIK 20.5% and the others 19.9%.

In March 2010, the three private stations had a viewing share of 56.9%, RIK 23% and the others 20.1%.

From the advertising pie, the three big private stations receive 83% of the ads, RIK 9% and the rest of the stations 8%.

Mr. Neophytou points out the fact that RIK has made reductions in its expenditures for 2011, as well as in the 2012 budget.

He notes, however, that the RIK budget for 2011 should be compared to reductions that may have been made in private stations as well.
