The Egyptian investor of the Ayia Napa marina testified

Court, Ayia Napa Marina, Nea Famagusta

Egyptian billionaire investor in the Ayia Napa marina, Nagip Sauiris, testified before the Famagusta District Court in Paralimni on Friday regarding the incident in a nightclub in the area in the morning hours of September 30, 2016. this particular big project.
The accused in the case are a total of seven people, five Cypriots and two foreigners, security guards and employees of the center, who are facing charges of assault and causing real bodily harm. All seven defendants plead not guilty.
According to the Prosecution, the Egyptian big investor described in detail the beating he received and his escort by officers and security guards of the nightclub when they went to have fun upon their arrival in Cyprus last summer.
Prior to Sawiris's affidavit, defense attorneys for the seven defendants filed a motion for a preliminary ruling, but the prosecution said it was too late as the witness was already on the bench to testify that all the testimonies had been given and the evidence and how all this is done to postpone the case and to afflict the witness.
The court finally issued an interim verdict rejecting the defense attorney's preliminary objection and so the process continued with the affidavit of the Egyptian, who stated that the quarrel started when one of his associates climbed on a couch to dance.
He was immediately reprimanded wildly and aggressively by a center waiter. According to what Sawiris testified, he asked the director of the place to speak and when he asked him to nominate the waiter, he beat him with both hands.
He added that then a security guard grabbed him from behind, kicked him, held his two hands, pulled him to the ground to take him out of the center while kicking him. At the same time, he testified, while the guard was holding both his hands with one hand, hitting him with his other hand on the face and body.
According to his testimony, Sauiris was injured in the attack by ear, with the wound bleeding, while he had bruises on the back of the head and chest. When one of his associates, the Egyptian testified, intervened trying to protect him, he himself received wood from the security guards of the center.
During the episode, Sawiris lost his mobile phone and shoes, while his partner lost an expensive watch worth about 25 thousand euros. When he asked for the items he had lost, the nightclub security guards only gave him his cell phone and shoes, and to date his partner's watch has not been returned, he said.
Saueris then read to the court the written testimony he gave to the Police immediately after the incidents at the nightclub. After saying that the English of the police officer who had taken his statement was very poor, he noted that the law enforcement agency had made several verbal mistakes. In other words, he stated that while he had said something specific in his testimony, the police officer wrote something else, even giving examples.
He added that he handed over his torn and bloody shirt to the Police as a presumption. When the Prosecution requested the shirt from the Police, it was reported that the shirt had been lost, since it had not been passed as a presumption in the specific case, while the police officer who received the shirt did not give a statement.
The defense attorney then asked Sawiris if he was a personal friend of the President of the Republic, if he was a millionaire and if he had businesses in different parts of the world, with the witness answering in the affirmative.
However, when asked whether the President of the Republic intervened on this issue, the Egyptian answered in the negative, adding that he did not even contact the President.
The Egyptian recognized and pointed out to the Court in the seat of the accused, the waiter, the director of the center and the security guard.
Nagip Sawiris completed his testimony today and the Court set October 16 for the continuation of the hearing with the presence of new prosecution witnesses.
