A fire broke out around one in the morning today, in a container which was located in a fenced area in Paralimni, and in which there were, among other things, fireworks.
According to a police statement, the fire was extinguished by members of the Fire Department.
Due to explosions caused, the scene was blocked and put under guard, while the examinations of the Police and the Fire Brigade continue.
An announcement from the Fire Department states that when it was found that there were fireworks in the container, all the appropriate measures were taken, ie evacuation of the staff at a safe distance, evacuation of four houses near the container, and blocking the obstacles in the container.
At the same time, a vehicle of the Fire Service remains on alert at the scene of the incident.
