The rear windows of the future (video)

smart window1Here we have a great collaboration with an excellent result. General Motors's development and research department, in collaboration with students at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design Future Lab in Israel, has designed a new way of entertaining passengers in the back of a conventional car.

GM has launched the Windows of Opportunity (WOO) project, which is influenced by research by psychologists who point out that rear passengers feel cut off from the world outside the car.

This explains the futuristic rear windows that the project examines, since until now the interactive screens were limited to the windshield. This interactive environment now goes to the back seats.

These windows will be able to meet the speed of the vehicle but also the route providing interactive improvements in the outdoor landscape. These additions will have either an entertaining or educational role.

Bezazel students created an entire functional prototype in a window creating a gesture-sensitive surface. The students took advantage of optics and motion sensors from EyeClick.
