A photo exhibition entitled "Famagusta: A European Ghost Town" was presented in The Hague.

According to a statement sent to the media by the GTP, the exhibition was presented as part of an event on Monday at the "Humanity House" Museum, which is dedicated to refugees.

The event was honored by the presence of a delegation of the Municipality of Famagusta consisting of the Mayor of Famagusta and President of the Union of Municipalities Alexis Galanos and the Municipal Councilors of Famagusta Konstantinos Hatzikakou and Georgios Beros.

The event was attended by Ambassadors, diplomats, Dutch officials and many people.

In his speech, Mr. Galanos stressed the fervent desire of the people of Famagusta to return to their city, presenting the vision in the near future for Famagusta to become a prosperous city again and its reconstruction to contribute catalytically to the resolution of the Cyprus problem and building trust. of the two communities.

He stressed that the Cyprus problem is a European problem and that its solution will significantly contribute to promoting security and stability in the Eastern Mediterranean.

In his greeting, Ambassador Oikonomou underlined Turkey's obligation to respect human rights and return occupied Famagusta to its rightful inhabitants on the basis of relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

Tassoula Hatzitofi, founder of the non-governmental organization "Walk of Truth", referred to her personal experiences as a refugee from Famagusta and her action for the repatriation of stolen cultural treasures from occupied Cyprus.

The event included a short music program dedicated to Famagusta by musicians Giannis Koutis and Prodromos Baklatzis, as well as a screening of a documentary about the occupied city of Famagusta.
