An unveiling event of the Sculpture of Filippos Giapanis "Arkontissa tis Sotiras" will be held tomorrow, Friday, November 11, 2016, at 19:30, at the City Hall of Sotiras by the Culture Committee of the Municipality.
The inauguration will be performed on behalf of the President of the Republic of Cyprus by the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Mr. Nikos Kougialis.
The sculpture was created by the sculptor Filippos Giapanis with the artistic contribution of the artist Sergis Sergios and Kikis Konstantinos (as Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Sculpture Park and the International Sculpture Symposium of Ayia Napa) and will adorn the entrance of Sithos.
As mentioned in the announcement of the Municipality of Sotira, this is a sculpture dedicated to the mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, fighter of the Savior, the farmer, the everyday woman who gives her own personal struggle. The woman of toil, of the peasantry, of the homeland, of the family, of dignity. The woman symbol of the struggles of our nation, the woman who proudly raised her children, the invisible heroine of the glorious history of our place.
