A couple from Switzerland was honored by the Mayor of Ayia Napa, whom the two spouses visited 40 times. Swiss tourists have also been named Ayia Napa Tourism Ambassadors.
An announcement of the Municipality states that "in the context of the political reward of the repeat visitors and their appointment as Ambassadors of tourism of Ayia Napa, the Mayor Giannis Karousos in a special ceremony, awarded an honorary plaque to the couple Hans Rudolf and Elin Steffen who was in Ayia Napa for the 40th time this year ".
According to the Swiss tourists, "the driving force for their multiple visits is the great love they have for Ayia Napa and its inhabitants, for its natural beauties and its sights".
Mayor Giannis Karousos expressed "warm thanks to the couple", emphasizing that "they deserve the title of Ambassador of tourism of the city because they really represent Ayia Napa in the best way abroad."
