Almost all the tourist markets may show an increase in the tourist resorts of the free province of Famagusta this year, but the market that surprises with the continuous flow of visitors is the Polish one.

According to a report in the newspaper "POLITIS", this is a new, growing market for Ayia Napa and Protaras, which since the summer of 2016 has shown signs of recovery. "Since last year, the Poles started to visit our province in an organized way, they liked the product, that's why this year they came more organized and in larger numbers. This was, of course, due to the fact that direct flights from Larnaca Airport to and from the capital Warsaw, Krakow and other Polish provinces have increased.

"Direct flights are a great asset for a tourist country, in order to attract people", said the official of the Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company, Lakis Avraamidis, to "P". Apart from the Polish market, which leaves many promises for the coming years, in the free province of Famagusta, the English, Russian, German and Israeli markets show a significant increase in the flow of visitors and overnight stays. According to Mr. Avraamidis, all the above markets show a significant increase this year compared to the corresponding period last year, which was also considered very satisfactory. The Scandinavian tourist market also shows a small increase, but not in the degree of the four aforementioned markets, while the Ukrainian market is approximately at the same level as last year.

The slight bend

Lakis Avraamidis also referred to the small decline observed in hotel bookings around the end of June until the beginning of July, but a decline which, as he said, was overcome by the offer of special prices by hotels. "At the moment, most of the large hotel units in the free province of Famagusta have 100% occupancy. These fullnesses will continue throughout the summer. According to the reservations we have, but also the interest that exists from foreign travel agents, the very satisfactory fullness is expected to continue next September, even in October. "Since almost all our traditional tourist markets show an increase this year, it is normal to have a particularly increased tourist traffic and overnight stays in our hotels", concluded Mr. Avraamidis.
