The presence and action of the Police to prevent crime and delinquency phenomena was intense last night, throughout Cyprus, with organized patrols in specific areas, with checks on suspicious persons, but also with immediate response to calls from citizens. The policing measures resulted in a number of people being arrested for various offences, including, but not limited to, carrying a dummy gun, assault, carrying a knife, carrying offensive instruments, carrying explosives, and causing a disturbance in a public place.

From early yesterday afternoon, during the policing of a football match for the 16nd Division Championship of the KOP, at the GSP stadium in Nicosia, members of the Police proceeded to arrest two persons, aged 17 and XNUMX, after they were found in possession of a flare separately .

The actions and policing measures in Nicosia continued with the arrest of a 19-year-old man, after information received shortly before 11.00:19 in the evening that indicated that a suspicious man had pointed a pistol at a woman in the area of ​​Paluriotissa. The XNUMX-year-old suspect was located and arrested by members of the Police who rushed to the area. As it was established, the pistol was a dummy and the woman in question was known to him, who had allegedly given him the dummy pistol.

In the same area, shortly after 11.00:20 at night, a 29-year-old man was arrested by members of the Police, who, during a check, found an iron fist in his possession. Also during a check by members of the Police, shortly after midnight, in the area of ​​Nicosia and Aglantzia, a XNUMX-year-old man was arrested for the offenses of carrying a knife, possession of an offensive instrument, and possession of explosives, specifically two flares.

Also in Nicosia, shortly before 2.00:34 am on Sunday, another person, a XNUMX-year-old man, was arrested for the spontaneous offenses of public insult, breach of peace, indecent act, assaulting a police officer, and resisting lawful arrest.

Two other persons were arrested in the provinces of Pafos and Famagusta for similar offenses of causing concern, disturbing the peace, and drunkenness.

In particular, a 53-year-old woman was arrested, following information received around 8.00:59 on Saturday night, which stated that a woman was in a state of intoxication, shouting and causing concern to neighbors and passing pedestrians, in an area of ​​Protaras, while in the province of Paphos , a XNUMX-year-old man was arrested for the offenses of drunkenness, disturbing the peace, and resisting arrest, following a tip shortly after midnight that a man was intoxicated and disturbing patrons of a property in Latsi.

In Limassol, during a check on three persons, aged 19, one of the three youths was found in possession of a small amount of cannabis, weighing approximately 3 grams, as a result of which he was arrested for drug possession. The three young men were stopped by members of the Police around 8.00 on Saturday night, while they were inside their parked but operating vehicle, in an area in Muttayaka.

In Larnaca, it is worth mentioning the arrest of a 16-year-old minor, by members of the Police, for the self-inflicted crime of carrying a knife, following a complaint submitted to the Police earlier yesterday afternoon by a man and a woman, visitors to the Republic, which related to legislation to combat racism and xenophobia.

The two visitors had specifically reported to the TAE of Larnaca that, around 3.30 on Saturday afternoon, while they were with their friends in an area in Larnaca, they were approached by four young men, one of whom pointed a knife at them and expressed a threat against them, in relation to with their national origin.

Evidence emerged from the tests carried out following the arrest shortly after 10.00:16 p.m. of the XNUMX-year-old suspect, who is also allegedly the perpetrator of the attack, threat and stabbing.

As part of the investigation of another case related to the legislation to combat racism and xenophobia, a 61-year-old man was arrested yesterday by members of the Police in Paphos, pursuant to a court warrant, who was taken into custody for the purposes of police examinations.

According to the data under consideration and a complaint filed by a 38-year-old man at the Paphos Public Transport Authority, a user of an online application, recently posted photos of the 38-year-old and comments of abusive, threatening and racist content. According to the complaint, the same suspect allegedly sent the 38-year-old complainant phone messages, with the same abusive, threatening and racist content.

Finally, it is worth mentioning another arrest, a 25-year-old man, during a police check shortly after 10.00:25 on Saturday night, in the Ledra area of ​​Nicosia, after it was found that the XNUMX-year-old, a citizen of a third country, remains illegally in the Republic.
