A breakfast that includes a lot of protein - for example eggs, toast, etc. - increases dopamine levels in the brain, which regulates our craving for calorie-sweet and savory foods and affects our appetite in general.

This explains why those who do not eat breakfast need larger amounts of food to feel satisfied and consequently, why they tend to gain weight as they enjoy various snacks later in the day.

An American study found that young adults (the average age of study participants was 19) who did not eat breakfast were more likely to eventually become obese. However, those who enjoyed a high-protein breakfast were less likely to have irregularities during the day and to gain extra pounds.
