Pancyprian Exercise called "EGKELADOS-2017", which deals with the management of the consequences of a catastrophic earthquake will be held today, Thursday, in Famagusta.

According to a statement from the Civil Defense Force, the ultimate goal and purpose of the exercise is to examine the control of the information and mobilization system of the Force members at all levels of administration, the organization and operation of multi-service crisis management coordination centers, which will develop and operate, in accordance with the existing institutional texts and plans of competence of the Civil Defense Force, the organization and operation of Operation Centers at the Civil Defense Stations in all Provinces, the activation and response of Departments of the Force and the cooperation with other Services and Institutions involved.

The exercise, which started on March 7 in the province of Larnaca, is taking place in this area for the first time in the history of the Force, since it will mobilize a force of over 5.000 people, will be held throughout free Cyprus, in parts, day and night central and regional level.

The exercise is also attended by the National Guard, the Police, the Fire Service, the Medical Services of the Ministry of Health and all the Essential Services assigned a role and mission under the Special National Plan "EGKELADOS", under the responsibility of the Political Force. Defense.

Finally, the National Rescue Team of Israel, the Greek Rescue Team, the General Directorate of Civil Security and Crisis Management of the French Republic have also participated in the exercise, while the intention to send observers has been expressed by the USA. and the Kingdom of Jordan.
