A meeting was held yesterday, Wednesday, March 15, at the offices of the Municipality of Sotiras with the President of the Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Cooperation, Mr. George Perdikis.
During the meeting were discussed the issues of citizen participation in municipal committees, grass spraying, the issue of social policy of municipalities, economic problems, the issue of dog welfare, as well as harassment by industries units in the area.
The Mayor Sotiras, Mr. Georgios Takkas stated that a very constructive discussion took place in which important issues addressed by the Municipality were addressed and with which there is a common line with what the Ecologists-Citizens' Cooperation Movement stands for.
Mr. Takkas referred to the ways of reducing waste by the Municipality of Sotiras, noting that great efforts are being made to increase participation in the door-to-door recycling program, while, as he said, the Municipality of Sotiras is proceeding with the creation of a Green Point-model in which the prunings will be processed, while the fixed policy of the Municipality regarding the participation of the citizens in municipal committees was underlined as well as the promotion of the issue of the establishment of a municipal Environmental Committee. Referring to the issue of dog welfare, Mayor Sotiras stressed that the Municipality of Sotira maintains an Animal Shelter that operates as a model, while participation in the District Animal Protection Committee will contribute catalytically to the protection and welfare of dogs.
