The readiness of Cyprus to contribute to the effort to extinguish the catastrophic fires raging in Portugal was expressed by the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis, in a message of condolence sent today to the Prime Minister Antonio da Costa.
According to a statement from the Presidency, in his message, President Anastasiadis expressed his deep sorrow over the fires in central Portugal, which have claimed the lives of dozens of people and continue to cause death and destruction.
At the same time, he sends on behalf of the people and the Government of the Republic of Cyprus sincere condolences to the families, friends and loved ones of those who were lost, as well as wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.
