The Greek champion passed the 500 meters in 4th place but then increased his pace and was first in the 1000 meters of the race. Stefanos Douskos continued the first place in the 1500 meters, making the best effort to stay in this position in the last 500 meters.

The Greek champion, despite the pressure he received from his opponents, endured, winning the 1st place and the gold medal.
