Ο 42-year-old unvaccinated priest and father of five children, Nikolaos Vernezos, died of a coronavirus, yesterday, Wednesday, drowning Prokopi in Evia in grief.

The priest was hospitalized at the Hippocratic Hospital in Athens with coronavirus and as evima reports, he had not been vaccinated.

The 42-year-old unvaccinated priest left his mark on the local community

"Our Municipality mourns the loss of a young and charismatic man, a priest who honored the priesthood and in his short life left an indelible mark on our local community. On behalf of the entire Municipal Council, I express my heartfelt condolences to his family ", underlines the mayor of Mantoudi, Lake Agia Anna, George Tsapourniotis.

For its part, the Association of Voluntary Forest Protection & Rescue Forces of Prokopi, Evia, posted on Facebook.

"The high priest of the Holy Pilgrimage of Saint John of Russia, Elder Father Nikolaos Vernezos, passed away, drowning in grief all those who knew him.
Father Nicholas was a brilliant priest, especially loved by all and was an unshakable pillar and lighthouse of our local church.
Unfortunately, our local church and the Diocese of Chalkis, Istiaia and Northern Sporades are now poorer.
Good heavens, our pope Nikos.
May God give strength to your good family.
Your wish to have.
Amen".
