A driver was in danger of losing his life when he sprayed deodorant in his car, then lit a cigarette and an explosion followed, the BBC reports today on its website.
Firefighters rushed to the scene and said the driver used an "excessive" amount of deodorant spray before causing a spark.
The gas from the spray ignited, causing the car windshield and windows to explode and the doors to sag, but the driver escaped with minor injuries.
Police said the incident in Halifax on Saturday "could have been worse" and warned consumers to follow safety instructions.
The blast was so powerful that it shattered windows in neighboring businesses.
The road where the explosion took place was blocked while the police and the fire brigade are conducting an investigation.
