Do not imagine that FigTree Bay in Protaras has always been as we know it today. Do not imagine that it was always full of sunbeds and umbrellas, full of people and that it always had the title of perhaps the most cosmopolitan beach on the island.
Okay, what is non-negotiable and does not change over the years is that FigTree has always been beautiful. Hence the many distinctions from TripAdvisor and beyond, sometimes as one of the best beaches in Europe.
After the Turkish invasion of 1974, the area developed rapidly, hence the photos you see have nothing to do with the current image of the beach.
