The Ministry of Finance finally approved 29 new positions out of the 56 that the Health Insurance Organization had included in its budget for 2024, with the President of the OAU, Stavros Michael, declaring to KYPE that he was completely satisfied, since these positions are the ones that were missing from the study of the KPMG company for the introduction of GeSY, which had been done at the time, in order to complete the planning and structure of the Organization.

The subject of the 56 new positions, which the Health Insurance Organization had included in the budget for 2024, occupied yesterday's meeting between the Ministry of Finance and the OAU, with the competent Ministry reserving to answer in two days at the latest whether it will approve or not the specific positions.

Finally, the response from the relevant Ministry was given late last night, with the approval of 29 new positions, while according to what the President of the OAU reported to KYPE, the remaining new positions will be examined for approval in the next period.

According to Stavros Michail, of the 29 positions, 11 are for auxiliary and secretarial staff positions, while the rest are for administrative and scientific positions.

As he noted, the OAU has needs in many specialties, such as multi-specialty doctors and nurses, to add that the Organization needs to have all specialties to possess the expertise.

In addition, he said that the OAU, with the approval of these positions, can now proceed with their announcement in the next two months, so that the Organization can be staffed and its planning and structure can be completed.

Besides, Mr. Michael mentioned that the Ministry of Finance will give permission to the Organization for an internal market process, that is to find people through secondments from other services and Organizations.

"We will ask for secondments. However, it is very difficult to get people from other services and Organizations. We will, however, make the effort", he said.

He expressed the hope that with these positions the OAU will be able to make the plans and programs it has for the next two years.

He also mentioned that "the NHS has reached a point where almost all the hospitals except one have entered, it has 7 thousand providers and one million beneficiaries", noting that "we have a lot of things to do to serve the patients , whether this concerns new technologies, but above all quality upgrading".

Answering a question if other outstanding issues concerning the Organization were discussed at yesterday's meeting, Mr. Michael said that during the meeting the issue of reducing the revenue of the general government levy was also considered.

As he said, the Ministry of Finance explained to the OAU that based on the Law on Fiscal Responsibility, since the amount shown in the state budget, as a government contribution to the NHS, amounts to a certain amount, the number of the OAU must also be consistent with its own budget .

"There was a difference of 40 million and we will correct this difference that exists," he concluded.
