At least 15 Afghan soldiers have been killed in a Taliban overnight attack on their outpost in western Afghanistan's Farah district, the Chinese news agency Xinhua reported, citing local Ariana News TV.

The attack was carried out by Taliban militants last night in the northeastern part of the city of Farah, which is also the capital of the eponymous district governor. Nine members of Afghanistan's elite special forces are among the dead, and several Afghan soldiers are missing after the attack.

The militants destroyed a military vehicle, while occupying two others, along with their weapons.
