The official announcement was made by the band members, David Miller, Sébastien Izambard and Urs Bühler via Twitter on Sunday. "It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our friend and partner Carlos Marín has passed away. He will miss his friends, family and fans.
For 17 years, the four of us, we went through the journey of Il Divo together ".

On December 16, the band members also announced that the singer had been hospitalized.
