Two people have been killed and eight others are missing after a landslide caused by heavy rains in southern Chile.
Torrential rains overflowed a river and a wave of mud drowned several homes in Villa Santa Lucia, a secluded village of just 300 people in the Los Lagos area, 1.100 kilometers south of Santiago, Interior Ministry spokesman Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said. Three other people were injured.
About 20 houses were completely destroyed. Some of them were even engulfed in flames. Many vehicles as well as the community power grid were also damaged.
