US President Donald Trump has accused motorcycle maker Harley-Davidson of using tariff tensions as a pretext to divert production to European customers in other countries.
"Earlier this year, Harley-Davidson announced that it would relocate much of the Kansas City plant's operations to Thailand. That was long before the tariffs were announced. "As a result, they are simply using the Tariffs / Trade War as an excuse," Trump wrote on Twitter.
"When Harley-Davidson executives came to the White House, I criticized them for imposing very high tariffs in other countries, such as India. Now companies are returning to America. "Harley must know that they will not be able to sell back to the US without paying a large tax!"
Harley-Davidson executives were not immediately available for comment.
