Teenage girl killed 2 Taliban when they entered her house

A teenage girl in Afghanistan has killed two Taliban and wounded several others in retaliation for the killing of her parents, who were just killed by insurgents outside their home for supporting the government, local officials said.

The incident took place last week when the Taliban stormed the home of Kamar Gul, a teenage girl whose father was from a village in the central province of Gor.

The Taliban were looking for her father because he supported the Afghan government, said local police chief Habiburahman Malekanda.

He was dragged out of his house and when his wife resisted, the Taliban killed them both.

"Kamar Gul, who was inside the house, snatched a gun that the family had. "She killed the two Taliban who had killed her parents and injured many others."

The teenager is 14 to 16 years old, according to various officials.

Other Taliban members rushed to the family home, but were repulsed by local and pro-government militias.

The teenager and her younger brother were taken to a safe place by Afghan security forces, explained Mohamed Aref Amber, a spokesman for the provincial governor.

After the incident became known, social networking sites were filled with comments welcoming the "heroic" act of the girl. A photo of a teenage girl wearing a headscarf and having a gun on her knees has gone viral.

"I take off my hat in her courage!", Wrote Naziba Rahmi on Facebook. "The power of an Afghan girl," wrote another Internet user, Fazila Alizanda.
