Five people have been killed so far in heavy rains in Istanbul and Zonguldak, and dozens have been injured. A strong storm also hit Bursa, Kocaeli and Izmir.
Health Minister Fahrettin Kotsa announced that 4 people died in a strong tornado in Istanbul and 38 were injured. The competent authorities called on our citizens not to leave their homes unless necessary, in order to avoid any adverse events.
Vehicles were damaged, trucks on the highway overturned and a clock tower collapsed. All ferry services in the city were canceled, the Bosphorus Straits were closed to ships. The schools in Polis will also be closed tomorrow.
According to the meteorological service, the strong winds will continue until 18:00 tomorrow night.
