The well was on the roof and belonged to a restaurant
Two days trapped inside a well full of fat, a young man spent time in an empty Chinese restaurant in California, USA.
On Wednesday 12/12 neighbors heard a ghostly voice calling for help in the San Lorenzo area of Alamida County and informed the authorities.
Police and firefighters arrived at the scene at 9.30am and heard a voice calling for help. While searching, they discovered that the voice came from a well on the roof, which belonged to the restaurant. They used a ladder to reach the roof where they located the 29-year-old.
He was trapped inside a metal duct full of cooking fat that led from the ceiling to the kitchen and could not move. It took almost an hour for firefighters to free him from the scene. He was then taken by ambulance to a local hospital for first aid.
The 29-year-old was exhausted and dehydrated, but is expected to fully recover, according to authorities.
It has not yet been established that he was at the scene, with the authorities conducting an investigation and not ruling out the possibility of an attempted burglary.
"We are very grateful to our citizens-reporters and to our firefighters who saved this man. "It probably would not have survived another day given the circumstances," the county sheriff's office said in a statement.
