A bizarre protest on social media with Syrian refugees eating bananas has gone viral in Turkey and led to the expulsion of their protagonists.

It all started when in a TV report on a street in Istanbul they were confronted by a crowd of Turkish citizens and a refugee from Syria on the other side.

The Turks present verbally attacked the woman from Syria, saying that the refugees have a better standard of living than the Turks and, in an aversion to his speech, one of the people present said to the woman: "I do not have a banana to eat and you are buying it. by the kilo ".

Protest movement
The phrase was considered racist and sparked a protest on social media by Syrian refugees living in Turkey, who began posting videos of themselves eating bananas ostentatiously.

The ironic videos provoked the anger of the Ministry of Interior, which ordered the arrest and deportation of those who star in these "provocative" posts, as described in a statement by the Police.

The detainees are accused of "inciting the people to hatred and hostility."
