China: Family finds child abducted after 19 years

child abduction ABDUCTION, INTERNATIONAL, CHINA

A 20-year-old man was reunited with his family 19 years after his abduction when he was an infant in the northern province of Hebei.

In August 1998, two men abducted the then 11-month-old infant.

The police who conducted the investigations faced many difficulties as it was estimated that the infant was abducted by internal migrants since at that time thousands of people from other provinces were working in the mines of China.

The infant's parents were also internal migrants from southwest Sichuan Province.

This year, local police reopened the case and conducted new investigations during which four suspects were arrested.

Police checked the information and on September 24 managed to locate the missing man in the city of Liaosheng, in the neighboring province of Shandong.

After receiving DNA on October 6, his identity was confirmed.
