Istanbul: And second dead from the collapse of the building

The cause of the crash has not yet been determined

At least two people were killed and six injured today in the collapse of an eight-storey building in Istanbul, where occupants of an apartment building were trapped under the rubble.

Two people were killed and six survivors were taken to hospitals after being pulled from the rubble, Istanbul Governor Ali Gerlikaya said, according to the Anadolu news agency.

The cause of the collapse of the multi-storey building, located in the Kartal district, on the Asian side of Istanbul, and 14 apartments in it, has not yet been clarified.

In addition, the exact number of people inside the building, which was built in 1992, has not been clarified.

According to Gerlikaya, 43 people have been registered as tenants in this address, while a textile workshop is located on the ground floor.

Dozens of rescuers remain at the scene and are trying to locate any detainees, a photojournalist of the French Agency reported.

Security camera footage, broadcast by Turkish television networks, shows people running to be rescued as the building collapses, raising a dense cloud of dust.
