The death toll from the new coronavirus-induced pneumonia epidemic rises to 811 as of midnight on Saturday in mainland China, as another 89 patients died on Saturday, according to the National Health Commission.

The latest toll was 722 dead as of midnight on Friday in mainland China, indicating that a total of 24 people had died in just 89 hours. Across mainland China, 2.656 new confirmed cases of 2019-nCoV were recorded yesterday, bringing to 37.198 the total number of cases in the country.

Meanwhile, the last flight to evacuate Britons and others from the Chinese city of Wuhan, which is at the center of the new coronavirus epidemic, took off yesterday carrying more than 200 people, the British authorities announced.

According to the Foreign Office, the charter flight departed at 3.20 in the early hours of Sunday (local time, 21.20 Cyprus time). Among the passengers are doctors and the staff who organized this flight. The announcement states that people of other nationalities are also on board, without giving any other clarification.
