Heavy snow fell today in Moscow and, as the Fobos meteorological center points out, Moscow has seen such amounts of snow since 1949.
"The 'Stalinist' snowfall in Moscow has been the heaviest in the last 72 years," the center said in a statement.
The center's main scientific collaborator, Yevgeny Tiskovets, said in a post on Instagram that, according to data collected from various stations until 18.00 Moscow time, such a snowfall had occurred 72 years ago. 
At the same time, he points out that the amount of snow that fell today is 20% of the monthly amount of snow recorded in the Russian capital.
