Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reacted sharply to allegations by the Republican People's Party leader that he was involved in offshore accounts.

Kemal Kilicdaroglu had complained that members of Tayyip Erdogan's family, as well as his former associates, appeared to have transferred millions of dollars to an offshore company on behalf of the president.

"If Tayyip Erdogan has a penny abroad, (Kilicdaroglu) must prove it. If it turns out, I will not stay in the presidency for even a minute. Which offshore bank does Tayyip Erdogan have an account with? Prove it. If you can not prove it, you have to give up politics. "If you do, I will leave politics and my office, the presidency," the Turkish president was quoted as saying by Hürriyet.

However, Erdogan's lawyers filed a lawsuit against the leader of the Republican People's Party, who urged Prime Minister Binali Gildirim to resign, as his sons' names were linked to the Paradise Papers. In fact, his sons seem to be the only shareholders of two shipping companies, which are registered in Malta.
