The unchanging, clear, rejection by the vast majority of Austrians of Turkey's possible accession to the European Union, and in fact at a rate of 75%, is confirmed by the latest representative poll of the Austrian Society for European Policy, in view of tomorrow's announcement of the new European Commission.
According to the poll, 75% of respondents reject Turkish membership and would be welcomed by only 9%, which is the lowest percentage ever, while 13% of respondents appear not to be interested in the issue.
In the last decade, the highest rate of rejection by Austrians of a Turkish accession to the EU, namely 80%, was recorded in a poll conducted by the Austrian Society for European Policy in November 2016.
Turkey-EU accession talks have been frozen and, according to information, in the new progress report, the Commission is said to be reaching its most negative conclusion so far for Turkey.
