He threw his daughter into the void to stop the demolition of his house

A man from South Africa is facing charges of attempted murder, who threw his six-month-old daughter from the roof of his house, in a complex of illegally built houses, trying to stop its demolition.

The 38-year-old took the baby and climbed on the roof of the house, thus protesting against the dozens of planned demolitions in the city of Kwadwesi, on the east coast of the country.

Police officers took a position below him while one went up to the roof to try to stop him. However, he let the child hover, holding it by the ankle, before throwing it into space.

The other protesters were heard urging the outcast father to shout "Rix'to".

The police managed to immobilize him but not before he threw the baby.

Fortunately, a police officer managed to catch the little girl, who was not injured.

The father was arrested and charged.

Ninety illegal constructions were announced to be demolished in the Joe Slovo neighborhood, provoking strong reactions.

Police went to the spot to take care for the safety of the demolition workshop, as 150 demonstrators began throwing bricks and erecting barricades with burning tires.

While the spirits were calming down, the father in question climbed onto the roof of his house with his child and threatened to throw it into the void if the crew did not back down. When negotiators failed to persuade him to come down, a rescue plan was drawn up for the baby.

The little girl returned to the hands of her 35-year-old mother and the demolition crew proceeded according to plan and demolished 90 makeshift structures that had been built illegally.
