Thessaloniki, Greece on March 26, 2020. Greece is in the fourth day of imposing a traffic ban seeking to stop the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19, excluding going to and from work, grocery shopping, visiting a doctor and pharmacy or pet walk and personal exercise.

At the beginning of next year, the regional director of the World Health Organization in Europe puts an end to the coronavirus pandemic, adding, however, that he does not consider that the restrictions will be necessary until then.

Speaking to the Danish state network DR, Hans Klüge said that Covid-19 will continue to prevail in 2021 but will be more manageable than in 2020, reports the Anadolu agency.

Stressing that the worst-case scenarios are a thing of the past, Kluge said scientists have more information on the virus than they have in 2020. However, no one can predict its future.

"The virus will continue to exist but I do not think the restrictions will be necessary. "This is an optimistic message."

Klugge also appeared reassuring about the mutations, saying it was normal for the virus to try to adapt to people it infects, but that did not mean it was not worried about their rapid spread.

Adding that the WHO is closely monitoring the effectiveness of the vaccines that have been developed against it Covid-19 because of the rapidly spreading types of the virus, he said vaccines can be modified based on new mutations if necessary and they do not need to be produced from scratch.

He also stressed that the mutations will not make the virus uncontrollable, but noted that countries whose healthcare systems are already under pressure could suffer even more, which makes it necessary to take the mutations very seriously.
