Russia says it is ready for negotiations.

Russia today said it was "ready" for talks with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, whom Sergei Lavrov's counterpart is expected to meet in Geneva on Thursday, following Moscow's recognition of the self-proclaimed pro-people.

"Ready for the negotiation process"

"Even in the most difficult moments (…) we say: we are ready for the negotiation process, for this reason our position remains the same (.). "We are always in favor of the use of diplomacy," Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement posted on YouTube.

The Russian ministry, meanwhile, said Moscow must first ratify the friendship agreements with Donetsk and Lugansk before discussing issues such as the exact borders of the regions, RIA Novosti reported.
