Elon Musk, the founder and CEO of Tesla, on Thursday unveiled a plan to develop a humanoid, metal robot capable of performing boring, repetitive or dangerous tasks based on the same technology that will be used in his company's semi-autonomous electric cars.

The eccentric billionaire promised that the prototype of what he christened Tesla Bot will be presented next year. He will have five fingers on his hands and an androgynous, black and white presentation.

The robot will have a "profound impact" on the US and global economies, Mr Musk said, as it could potentially end labor shortages and reduce wage costs. He added that he considers it important that this robot is not "too expensive", without becoming more specific.

For him, "certainly" Tesla is "the most important robotics company in the world", as its cars are already robots with wheels, they are "conscious" when moving on the streets, as they have software that allows them to understand their environment. and move "autonomously", without driver intervention.

"It therefore makes sense to have a Tesla robot in human form," he added.
Elon Musk spoke at an event of his company for its progress in the field of artificial intelligence (TN).

Among other things, the purpose of the presentation, which mainly concerned the development of technologies for the creation of fully autonomous cars, was for Tesla to attract new engineers.

According to ΑΠΕ - ΜΠΕ, Tesla is facing research on the driving assistance technologies it has developed for its vehicles, the Autopilot ("autopilot") programs and Full Self Driving ("fully autonomous driving"). They are accused of giving the wrong impression to motorists that their vehicles can move without any intervention from them thanks to the cameras and computers they have, which is not the case.

The issue of the inquiries was not raised during the two hours and something that lasted the presentation and the phase of the questions from the public.

The Tesla Bot will have a height of around 1,73 m and will be "friendly", however "you will be able to get away from it by running faster than that", since it will not be able to travel more than five kilometers per hour, joked Mr. Mask.

The billionaire envisions that his company's robot will bring a world in which manual labor will no longer be mandatory, but a "choice".

The man with the second largest fortune in the world according to Forbes magazine has also founded start-ups such as SpaceX, the first private company that managed to launch rockets capable of reaching space, and Neuralink, which specializes in brain implants.

Mr. Musk believes that TN will not have a competitive relationship with human culture and hopes, thanks to Neuralink, that there can be a "symbiotic relationship" between people and technologies.

At the event, in which Mr. Musk presented microprocessors designed by his company for its high-speed computer, which he christened Dojo, he promised that the computer will be operational in 2022.
