US President Donald Trump informed his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan during a telephone conversation yesterday that Washington was adjusting its military support to its allies in Syria, Lefkos said yesterday.

Earlier in the day, the Turkish presidency said in a statement that Trump had stressed to Erdogan that he had given instructions not to provide weapons to Kurdish YPG fighters in Syria.

The Ankara statement stressed that the two countries agreed to fight together all "terrorist organizations", including the Islamic State, the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the network of self-exiled preacher Fethullah Gulen (FETO).

However, the White House statement on the content of the conversation between the two leaders did not specifically mention the PKK, the YPG or the Gulen network.

However, it is emphasized that Trump and Erdogan discussed the purchase of military equipment from the United States.
