Macedonian Prime Minister Zoran Zaef will hold talks with Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz in Vienna on Tuesday (June 26th), the Austrian Chancellery announced at noon.

The statement said that "on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, Federal Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz will meet with the Prime Minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Zoran Zaef at the Chancellery, for a working conversation."

Observers in Vienna expect that the focus of the meeting will be the signing last Sunday of the Agreement on the nomenclature by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his Macedonian counterpart Zoran Zaef, as well as Macedonia's further rapprochement with Europe.

Vienna strongly promotes this approach and makes it one of the priorities of the Austrian Presidency of the EU in the second half of 2018, in the context of a future start of accession negotiations with the countries of the Western Balkans.

In relation to the Agreement between Greece and FYROM, already on the night of the 12th to the 13th of June, the Austrian Foreign Minister Karin Kneisl had congratulated Athens and Skopje for reaching an agreement between them, even adopting the agreement agreed by the two FYROM new name, "Northern Macedonia", followed by congratulations from the Austrian Chancellor.
