Demand for tourist packages for Turkey offered by Russian travel agencies during the summer season has doubled compared to last year, said Maya Lominje, executive director of the Union of Tour Operators of Russia. She described the increase as "crazy".
According to the data available to the Union of Tour Operators of Russia, there are five popular tourist destinations for Russian tourists this year.
Turkey ranks first in terms of Russian tourist choices, followed by Sochi, Greece, Tunisia and Spain. Also popular destinations are Italy, Bulgaria and Thailand. However, in terms of the number of tourists, Sochi and the Krasnodar region are ahead.
According to Lominje during a press conference, the Russians do not face problems in obtaining visas and visiting the Schengen countries, but they face problems with American visas and therefore a reduction in tourist flows to the United States is expected.
Also the demand for tourist packages to Britain decreased by 10% due to the deterioration of relations between the two countries.
