A car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, killing at least three people and wounding 18 others Monday night in the northern Nigerian suburb of Maiduguri.
"The attack took place at 20:20 (21:20 Cyprus time) in the middle of a group of residents. "There is no doubt that this attack bears the signature of Boko Haram terrorists."
In the area of Maiduguri where the attack took place, there is a huge camp of internally displaced people due to the conflict, which has been repeatedly targeted by Boko Haram suicide bombers, especially young women.
On Sunday, three suicide bombers struck shortly after noon in front of a police recruiting center in Kontuga, a town near Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
On Thursday, three Nigerians working for the UN were killed in a suicide bombing in Ran, 175 kilometers east of Maiduguri.
The group's new series of suicide bombings comes two weeks after Boko Haram members allegedly abducted at least 110 young girls from a school in Dapci, neighboring Yobe province, which showed the jihadist organization remained an extremely serious threat despite assurances from the Nigerian government that it has been crushed.
The jihadist insurgency in northeastern Nigeria and its crackdown have claimed the lives of more than 20.000 people and displaced 2,6 million others since 2009.
