At least six people were killed in Nigeria's financial capital, Lagos, when a high-rise building under construction collapsed, the head of the disaster management service of the homonymous state announced today.
According to the official, Olufemi Oke-Osanidolou, the search and rescue operation continues.
The building collapsed yesterday at noon.
Eyewitnesses reported that about a hundred workers at the construction site of the luxury 25-storey building were missing and were overwhelmed by a huge amount of debris.
Building collapses are not uncommon in Nigeria, Africa's most populous country, where building regulations are often violated.
