Case jump in ages 20-24 from Christmas to New Year's Eve

More than 500% increase was presented in the cases identified in the age group 18-19

Cases detected in the age group 500-18 years in the last week of December (from 19 - 25) increased by more than 31%, compared to the previous week, while the total cases of the week jumped to 16.530, reaching the number of cases recorded in the previous four weeks (from November 27 to December 24), when they had reached 16.536.

In the last five weeks of 2021, from November 27 to December 31, the number of cases jumped to 33.066

Specifically, according to the data of the Epidemiological Surveillance Unit, in the last week of December (from 25 - 31), in addition to six times compared to the previous week of 18 - 24 December, were the cases identified in the age group 18-19 years, reaching 1.057, from 170 in the week of December 18-24, showing an increase of 521%.

This was followed by the solar group 20 - 24 with an increase of cases during the period 25 - 31 December by 398%, at 2.914, compared to 585 last week (from 18 - 24 December), the solar group 25 - 29, with an increase of cases by 349% (at 2.837 from 631), group 30 - 34 with an increase of 240% (at 1.795 from 527), group 55 - 59 with an increase of 176%, group 65 - 69 with an increase of 173%, group 50 - 54 with an increase of 167% and the group 35 - 39 with an increase of 164%.

In absolute numbers, the largest number of cases was recorded in the period 25 - 31 December by the age group 20 - 24 with 2.914 cases, followed by the age group 25 - 29 with 2.837 cases, the age group 30 - 34 to 1.795, the age group 12 - 17 with 1.337, the age group 35 - 39 with 1.293, the age group 18 - 19 with 1.057 and the age group 40 - 44 with 1.007 cases.
