The data of the new National Report, until February 1, 2022, was published today by the Ministry of Health, in which it seems that the downward trend, which had started in the daily number of diagnoses, seems to be slightly stopped, a fact that is in line with the increase observed in weekly positivity rate.

According to the new data, the highest value of the cumulative effect of 14 days is in the ages 0-9 years and 10-19 years, a fact that may reflect to some extent the increased laboratory testing in these groups, compared to others.

According to the National Report, as of February 1, 257.755 cases have been diagnosed in the Republic of Cyprus. COVID-19, with 738 deaths due COVID-19. Mortality COVID-19 amounts to 0,3%.

It is noted that the epidemiological data are subject to change due to the rapidly evolving situation.

Also, in the last 14 days and specifically from January 19 to February 1, 31.013 confirmed cases were recorded. COVID-19.

The data indicate that the median age of the cases COVID-19 was 31 years (Intra-quadratic range: 13-44 years) and more specifically 51,1% for women (n = 13.673) and 48,9% for men (n = 13.086), out of 26.759 cases (86,3% ) with the relevant information available.

Based on the epidemiological history, 2% (n = 605) were cases with a recent travel history, while 98% (n = 29.879) were cases of domestic transmission - out of 30.484 cases (98,3%) with the relevant information available.

Meanwhile, on February 2, 2022, 232 people with COVID-19 (diagnosis until February 1) were hospitalized based on registered data and including those who were discharged, transferred or died on February 2.

Their mean age was 69 years (Intra-Quarter range: 57 - 80 years), with 60,2% (n = 115) concerning men and 35,5% (n = 61) women from the province of Nicosia.

In total, 35 (18,8%) people with COVID-19 reported underlying diseases, while according to the registered data, on February 2, 2022, 37 people (diagnosed until February 1, including those who were transferred or died on February 2) were in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) (37%) and 100 people were intubated.

The median age of patients COVID-19 in ICU was 66 years, while 22 cases (68,8%) involved men.

Eight (22,9%) people admitted to the ICU reported underlying diseases, while in the last 14 days, 83.211 molecular tests (PCR) have been performed, ie 9.370,6 per 100.000 population, and 1.364.727 antigen rapid tests. test, ie 53.685,5 per 100.000 population.

Epidemiological Data in the Republic of Cyprus

In relation to the epidemiological data in the Republic of Cyprus, until February 1, 2022, 257.755 cases have been diagnosed in the laboratory. COVID-19, while in the last 14 days (January 19 - February 1) 31.013 cases have been diagnosed in the laboratory COVID-19.

Distribution of incidents by province

Among the cases diagnosed in the last 14 days, out of 26.543 (85,6%) cases with available information, 9.053 (34,1%) had a place of residence in the province of Nicosia, 7.567 (28,5%) in the province of Limassol , 5.342 (20,1%) in the province of Larnaca, 2.932 (11,1%) in the province of Paphos, 1.633 (6,2%) in the free province of Famagusta and 16 (0,1%) abroad.

In the last 14 days out of the 30.484 (98,3%) cases with available information, 2% (n = 605) related to cases with a recent travel history, while 98% (n = 29.879) related to domestic broadcasts.

Clinical Characteristics

Meanwhile, in the last 14 days out of 27.971 cases (90,2%) with available information, 37,3% (n = 10.445) did not report any symptom at diagnosis, while 62,7% (n = 17.526) reported at least one symptom.
