The period of validity of the Sickness Certificate is reduced from 180 days to 90 days, based on the decision of the Council of Ministers dated December 21, 2021, the Ministry of Health states in an announcement.

This change, it is noted, will take effect from January 31, 2022 and will apply to all holders of the Certificate, regardless of whether they have issued it before that date.

It is clarified that these certificates will continue to be issued through the platform www.eudcc.gov.cy and the date of entry into force of the certificate will be the date of release of the individual. It will be valid for domestic use up to 90 days from the date of the first positive laboratory test, as defined in the relevant decree.

It is pointed out that the Certificate of Disease will continue to be valid for 180 days from the date of the first positive laboratory test, which is the maximum period allowed by the relevant European Regulation and therefore can be used by citizens for travel purposes.

Please note that in the event of travel, the traveler should consult the Re-open EU website or application (reopen.europa.eu) or the national authorities of the country of arrival for information on the validity of the certificate, which may be 180 days or less in other countries.
