The decision taken by the Council of Ministers based on which the validity period of the Sickness Certificate is reduced from 180 to 90 days comes into force from today Monday.

As announced by the Ministry of Health, this change will apply to all holders of the Certificate, regardless of whether they have issued it before that date.

It is clarified that these certificates will continue to be issued through the platform www.eudcc.gov.cy and the date of entry into force of the certificate will be the date of release of the individual.

It will be valid for domestic use up to 90 days from the date of the first positive laboratory test, as defined in the relevant decree. It is pointed out that the Certificate of Disease will continue to be valid for 180 days from the date of the first positive laboratory test, which is the maximum period allowed by the relevant European Regulation and therefore can be used by citizens for travel purposes.

Please note that in the event of travel, the traveler should consult the Re-open EU website or application (reopen.europa.eu) or the national authorities of the country of arrival for information on the validity of the certificate, which may be 180 days or less in other countries.
