A senator from the University of Cyprus decided: This year, the graduation ceremony of the approximately 1.400 students of the academic institution who are completing their studies, will take place online. The reasons for this decision are the large number of students (a number that will be even greater in the presence of parents, friends and relatives) as well as the new data that emerge from the health protocols for protection against coronavirus. . Following the Senate's decision on the online graduation ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, the relevant officials and the Services of the University of Cyprus have already started the hard work to be able to organize this unprecedented ceremony that will take place on Wednesday 22 July.
As the head of the Press and Public Relations Office of the University of Cyprus, Doxa Komodromou, told "F", the Online Ceremony for the Recognition of Undergraduate and Postgraduate Graduates, in her program, will include a list of the two most promising Democrats in the program. of the institution and who will receive from him the sum of € 10.000 the first and € 5.000 the second, a speech by Rector Tassos Christofidis, while there will be the innovation for the children of the Music Talent Development Program to present themselves and dress musically the unprecedented graduation ceremony.
And while students, graduates, parents, relatives and anyone else interested will be watching the ceremony online from home on July 22nd, or anywhere else they want and have access to the internet, a number - those allowed under the ordinances - of persons will be in the Production Studio of the University which is housed in the Information Center-Library "Stelios Ioannou", in which the platform of the ceremony will be set up normally. There will be the whole Rector's Office, which will participate in the ritual that will be broadcast by the channel of the University of Cyprus on YouTube.
According to Ms. Komodromou, all this event, which is very demanding, will be original but also enriched with enough material. Specifically, a few hours before the start of the online ceremony there will be a countdown, videos with the student life will be shown, while the performance of the recognition of each student with all his data, will be shown under his School, like titles in a movie will be accompanied by music. Graduates will be able to save the ceremony so that they can register it in their file and have it for the rest of their lives. Regarding their degrees and all the relevant details for their receipt, the students will be informed soon by the Department of Studies and Student Welfare of the University.
