The 58-year-old accused for the murder of a 29-year-old and the attempted murder of a 52-year-old, committed on August 11, in Geri, were brought before a court. The Police proceeded to register the case for immediate trial and the accused was referred to trial before the Permanent Criminal Court of Nicosia.
According to the information that emerged from the investigation of the case, around 9.00 on the morning of Wednesday, August 11, the 58-year-old allegedly shot with a shotgun at a 29-year-old, who was fatally wounded. The 58-year-old also allegedly shot at a 52-year-old man who was at the scene, who was seriously injured. The 52-year-old is still being treated at the General Hospital of Nicosia.
Police rushed to the scene and located the 58-year-old, who allegedly tried to escape but was stopped and arrested. A detention order was issued against him for the purpose of police examinations, while with the completion of the examinations by the Nicosia Police Department, this morning, he was brought before the Nicosia District Court for immediate registration of the case for trial.
The court referred the 58-year-old defendant to trial before the Permanent Criminal Court and ordered that he remain in custody as a defendant until the next trial. The next trial is set for September 28.
