The Ethics and Sports Protection Committee received two red files for match-fixing from UEFA. Both matches showed unprecedented betting activity.
In its announcement, the Ethics and Sports Protection Committee states that it has received a detailed report from UEFA, including 2 new "red files", in relation to Cypriot football.
He further adds that the suspects for manipulation of football matches concern the "friendly game" Karmiotissa Polemidion - AEL Limassol held on July 18, 2020 and the final score was 1-8 and the also "friendly game" Karmiotissa Polemidion - Apollon Limassol, August 5, 2020 and the final score was 0-4.
The indications and the betting activity in these matches are unprecedented and the Commission's investigation is assisted by the Commission partners in the framework of the Council of Europe Convention on the Handling of Sporting Events, the announcement concludes.
